Babalwa is one of the leaders of an anti-apartheid youth movement that she runs alongside her childhood friend, Sipho. One of their allies, Siphokhazi, goes missing after an altercation with a police officer. Babalwa wants to take action but she is the only one who seems to want to avenge Siphokhazi’s disappearance. She tolerates much sidelining from Sipho as the movement continues to focus on agendas and objectives set by him. While Babalwa often feels restricted, she finds a release in her carefree relationship with Mandla, her lover. But soon the cracks in her relationship and in the movement begin to show. After Babalwa and her mother are betrayed by Mandla and Sipho, Babalwa is forced to choose between either doing nothing or standing up for what’s right. Set in 1970 South Africa.
